Body Focused Repetitive Behaviour (BFRB)

Body-focused Repetitive Behaviour (BFRB) is a general term for a group of related disorders that includes:

  • Hair pulling
  • Skin pricking
  • Nail biting
  • Cheek biting

These behaviours are not habits or tics; rather they are complex disorders that cause people to repeatedly touch their hair and body in ways that result in physical damage.

We work primarily with children involved in hair pulling (Trichotillomania) but please contact us if your child is suffering from other forms of BFRB.
